Minutes – February 8, 2020 – Fort Sumter
The Potomac Chapter of the Studebaker Drivers Club, was chartered in April 1967. It encompasses the area of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Current membership approaches one Hundred. Our members hail from as far away, as New Zealand, the states of Hawaii, Florida, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Car is completely original, except for tire sizes), h as heavy duty suspension (sway bars, front & rear springs, etc.) Chevy 305 (passed smog January 14) with 700R4 automatic (less than 10,000 miles since Corvette upgrades & $2,000 rebuild) Power moon roof, tilt wheel, power disc brakes, power windows Rear window defroster, power moon roof, original Blaupunkt radio/ with power antenna, Recaro. SDC Chapter Events; Forum Thank you for visiting the SDC Forum, a service of the Studebaker Drivers Club, Inc., an International non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Studebaker automobiles. Our Forum is free to use, but in order to join the discussion boards you will first need to register.
The meeting was called to order at the Sumter Swap Meet & Winter Extravaganza by Derwood Thompson at 11:33 a.m. There were 39 members and friends present at the event and 13 Studebakers.

Derwood thanked the Redman family for arranging this event.
There was no old business.
Stephen thanked the Osborn’s again for arranging our weekend at Weeki Wachee in January and mentioned that he is friends with one of the original mermaids. Mary Fletcher was 16 years old when she joined the Weeki Wachee team in 1947 and she is the only remaining mermaid from her team of ten. She still practices real estate in Gainesville.

Martha went over the calendar of events for March through June.

Unofficial Events –
March 21: Hot Rods for Heroes, 3rd Annual Car & Bike Show in Oviedo. This event is to raise money for Honor Flights and to honor our Nation’s Veterans
April 25: Lake Helen Car Show. This is near Deland. There will be food, music, a Farmer’s Market and cash prizes. Last year there were 318 cars. This is the largest car show in central Florida. The cost is $15 for pre-registration or $20 to register on show day. Contact John Meinelt for any questions.
International Meet –
Bill Van Alstyne gave us an update on the International Meet in Chattanooga (August 5 – 6).
Online registration is now open. You can find the registration form at the SDC website or the SDC Forum
Although the meet starts on Wednesday, there is an unofficial event on Tuesday night. “Test & Tune” will take place and participants can drive on the race track.
Vendors will also be allowed to set up and sell parts on Tuesday.
There will be a Banquet this year. It will be on Friday night.
Cash donations and door prizes are still needed.
Wayne reminded everyone that we should wear our white club shirts for all SDC events. If you do not have one, bring a white shirt to any meeting and for $5, Wayne will have the club logo embroidered on the shirt.
Jeff Rice is still working on formatting for the newsletter and will send one out soon.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:50 a.m.
